The Standing Stones Of Burnt Hill Who
placed twenty-one carefully arranged massive stones atop Burnt Hill near Heath, Massachusetts? No one knows the answer to
the question that has puzzled area residents for centuries -- including famed horror author H.P. Lovecraft, who summered in
the area during the 1920s.
Authorities say the arrangement of the stones doesn't match the work of the Native Americans
who were known to roam this part of the country. Nevertheless, some sort of intelligent beings put the 300- to 500-pound stones
in place, because they point to nearby mountains, aligned with the solstice sunrise and lunar movements.

Light My Fire For a romantic aura, many folks enjoy the glow
of candlelight in a room. During the Middle Ages, however, lighting a candle often preceded -- not romance but a session with
a seer. His job was to inspect melted candle wax to divine future events. The wax would melt into a brass dish, and then the
hot liquid would be poured into another vessel containing very cold water. The congealed blobs of wax could then be analyzed
for their symbolic meaning. - Parry Normal (From Emazing.com)
The Color Of Word A distinguished
professor of medicine has the ability to see words -- in color! The professor, dubbed "W.O." to preserve his privacy, has
been studied by a team at Vanderbilt University. They discovered that the professor perceived each letter of the alphabet
as a different color,so that when he read a newspaper, for example, the pages exploded in a kaleidoscope of hues. Says researcher
Thomas Palmeri, "He sees a palette ofdifferent colors when he reads, and sometimes he is more interested in how pretty the
page looks than what the words say." - Parry Normal
Today In History: November 10th Greenville, Mississippi's
Jim Henson created the characters at the request of TV producer Joan Ganz Cooney for The Children's Television Workshop. TCW
was created in reaction to the dearth of educational television for the young and impressionable. The concept took several
years to develop.
... Hello Big Bird. On this date in 1969, "Sesame Street" premiered on television. Let's see there's
the Cookie Monster and Ernie and Bert and Oscar the Grouch and, of course, that little green center of it all, Kermit the
Frog. How many tens of millions of American kids have learned to write and spell thanks to that wacky cast of Muppets? -

Today In History: November 15th ... today I honor Sadie Hawkins
Day, which was first celebrated on this date in 1937. It all happened in Al Capp's cartoon strip, "Li'l Abner."
Seems
that Hekzebiah's daughter was the homeliest in all of Dogpatch, thus pappy decreed the day in an attempt to marry off his
Sadie. There was a foot race and any single dude chased down by a single gal had to marry her. Such was the law of Dogpatch.
So
popular was "Li'l Abner" that Sadie Hawkins Day became an annual rite of November on college campuses and in communities across
the land. Knowing a good thing when he saw it, Capp wrote the day into his cartoon annually. - c d kaplan, The Culture

Known and loved these days as Halloween, ye olde pagan festival represented
the change of season from autumn to winter. It was also a time when the souls of the deceased revisted their former homes
and once again enjoyed the company of their kinsfolk and friends around an open fire. Do you think they wore Austin Powers
masks too? - Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)

Beliefs
The Fatalist If you believe that all occurrences in life are preordained, then
you are considered a fatalist by the spiritual community. According to the theory of fatalism, it's not you but a supernatural
power that predetermines your entire existence on earth, including events both large and small. Such supernatural powers include:
God, your horoscope, numerological symbolism, and so on. Fatalists insist that destiny is foretold, and you are "powerless"
to bring about any changes in your life. - Parry Normal, Emazing,.com
Flying Ointments Can witches fly?
Medieval witches believed flight was possible with the aid of ointments rubbed on their skin. Practitioners rubbed their bodies
with creams made from nightshade and mandrake, which, when absorbed through the skin, created a hallucinogenic effect. This
produced the desired sensation of riding on a broomstick across the night sky, helping foster the legend that witches can,
indeed, fly. - Parry Normal, Emazing,.com
Four! In numerology, four is the number associated with
hard work and practicality, as well as unhappiness and defeat. People whose names "reduce" to four (when mathematical values
are given to each letter) are said to be stolid and uninspiring, but often very methodical in routine work situations. They
are plodding and unadventurous and do not attain success easily. It is only their ability to work hard that saves them from
poverty and ruin. - Parry Normal, Emazing,.com
Astral Travel
Sometimes known as the out-of-body experience, astral travel is accomplished
by putting oneself into a meditative-like trance. Skillful practitioners are then able to "leave their bodies" and travel
to other places, like the home of a loved one in another city. Some astral travelers have astonished skeptics by reporting
details from their visits, such as how people were dressed or a meal that was being served. In other words, the sort of facts
that would be impossible to describe without having "been" on the scene.- Parry Normal, Emazing.com
Ghosts Cause Crashes
In the Trang area of Thailand, locals believe that several evil entities are causing a stream of fatal car accidents. The
troubled stretch of highway is known as the "100 corpses crossroads" and has created a furor all the way to the highest levels
of government. In fact, one Thai politician has asked for area monks to conduct a religious ceremony to help improve safety.
Spirits of the victims are also being asked to help guard the blackspot.

An Ugly Child? He may be a changeling -- a particularly
homely child left by fairies as an exchange for a normal, healthy one. Legend has it that changelings are really senile fairies
disguised as infants. According to the myth, the evildoing fairies could only snatch a beautiful baby before it was christened,
leaving the ugly, deformed one in its place. Sometimes even adults are thought to be changelings; only 100 years ago, a young
Irish woman was accused of being a changeling by her spouse and family. She was burned alive. - Parry Normal (From Emazing.com)
Love Temple In Athens, Greece, the discovery of an
ancient erotic temple is hampering the site development for the 2004 Olympics. The venue, slated to feature equestrian events,
sits atop of a complex devoted to the love goddess Aphrodite and was built more than 2,500 years ago. According to archaeologists
working the digs, the temple's various rooms were set aside for sensual baths and massages. In fact, investigators believe
the temple also served as a brothel and young priestesses serviced visitors with "extra love." - Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)
The Apparition When someone close to you dies, it's not uncommon to see a ghostly, luminous form of
the person soon after. This is the individual's "astral body," which incorporates his or her life force, say parapsychologists.
According to the experts, apparitions are simply a form of astral communication between the newly dead and those important
people they've left behind. Ultimately, the astral body finds a new level of existence on the astral plane and no longer appears
in ghostly form.- Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)
Animals Use ESP According to researchers,
family pets often turn to psychic abilities for their basic needs as well as for communication with humans. In fact, lost
animals often utilize ESP skills to return to their home base. A recent case involves a cat who found his way from the Wisconsin
Dells to his family in Hibbing, Minnesota--a journey of 350 miles which took more than nine months to complete. Animal experts
insist the cat's psychic connection to his humans helped him locate his home. - Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)
Rover, Come Over! When a beloved pet dies,
it's not uncommon to sense its presence in a variety of ways. "There's no death for them anymore than there is for us," says
TV's famed pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick. For example, you may "feel" your cat settle into your lap or "hear" your dog whine
in his sleep. Since the pet's spirit lives on, Fitzpatrick says to expect a psychic connection to your animal friend after
your immediate grief has passed. - Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)
Listen Up
If you're willing to listen to the animals, they have a lot to say. They
may even warn of impending danger. Kim Del Rio thinks her pet beagle Gomez saved her family's life when the dog
began growling inexplicably after her husband Juan finished his aquarium-cleaning chores. Nothing seemed amiss,
but Juan decided to check on the aquarium in the back bedroom.
To his shock, he discovered billowing black smoke pouring
from the tank, apparently due to a malfunctioning heater. Disaster was averted in the nick of time, thanks to Gomez.

Scottish Water-Spirit The winsome kelpie,
a water-spirit that takes the form of a horse, is one of the most captivating creatures in Scottish folklore. Typically gray
or black, its hooves are pointed backwards. With a playful, teasing personality, the kelpie supposedly leads travelers astray
as they attempt to cross rivers or streams. Occasionally, the kelpie is known to devour its victims instead of toying with
them! - Parry Normal(From Emazing.com)
