Nineteen million people were diagnosed with depression in 1998 and women are affected by depression two times more than men, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Statistics indicate that 30 million people have been on Prozac at least once in their lives, and millions more on other anti-depressants. In a recent study by Harvard researchers and the World Health Organization, it is projected that by the year 2020 depression could claim more years of people's useful life than war and AIDS.
